Automotive is the one industry where this work is live today. The framework is called Keshav, and it exists because a crash rating measures the wrong moment.

Why Keshav

The one who drove the chariot never took the shot.

Keshav is the name for Krishna as he drove Arjuna’s chariot in the Mahabharata. He saw the whole field, he counselled the man holding the reins, and he never once took the shot himself.

That is the correct posture for a prevention layer in a vehicle. It reads the road, it tells the driver what it knows, and it does not drive for them. A system that quietly takes over is not the same thing as a system that makes the person in the seat better at the job.

A rating measures the wrong moment.

A crash test tells you how well a structure absorbs an impact that has already happened. It is an honest measure of consequence, and the engineering behind it has saved an enormous number of lives. Nobody should argue with that.

The problem is what it leaves unattended. It says nothing about the road surface that caused the swerve, the fault the driver never saw, the fatigue nobody flagged, or the fact that the person in the seat was never taught how to handle any of it. The industry stopped at the moment of impact, and a rating built to describe outcomes quietly became the definition of safety itself.

Everything before that moment is where Keshav works.

None of this is a mystery.

Six causes account for most of it. Every one is documented. What has been missing is a standard that treats them as design problems to solve rather than explanations to give afterwards.

Speeding

Consistently the largest single contributor to road deaths in India. Not a mystery, not a surprise, and not currently designed against.

Drowsiness and fatigue

Significant, and routinely under-counted because nobody is measuring it at the moment it matters.

Road rage

Ordinary situations escalated into high-risk ones by a decision made in about two seconds.

Distraction

A momentary lapse of attention with permanent consequences.

Vehicle faults

Poor maintenance and untreated faults, much of it predictable and detectable long before it becomes dangerous.

Insufficient skill

Little real-time support for the person actually holding the wheel, particularly the ones who need it most.

The system direction

What we would build toward.

This is a direction we consult on, not a product we are selling. It is what we would argue for inside a manufacturer, a fleet, or a transport authority that wanted to take prevention seriously.

Road intelligence, read continuously

The vehicle knows things about the road it is currently on, and so does every other vehicle that passed over it this morning. Surface failures, flooding, the corner that produces the same warning every monsoon. That information exists and currently goes nowhere. It should reach the driver approaching it, and the authority responsible for fixing it.

Diagnostics in plain language

A fault should be described in words the owner understands, with an honest answer about whether it can wait, whether it can be handled at home, and whether the car should be moving at all. Not an amber light and a guess.

Coaching, not correction

A less experienced driver needs guidance at the moment it is useful, delivered in a way that does not become another source of distraction. The system makes the person better rather than quietly compensating for them.

Refusing to move

On a narrow set of safety-critical faults, the correct behaviour is to not start. Told plainly, with the reason, and not overridable by someone in a hurry. This is the least popular idea in the whole framework and the one we are least willing to drop.

Two wheels, not just four

In this market the two-wheeler rider is the most exposed person on the road and the least served by every safety system built so far. A prevention layer that only works inside a car has solved the easier half of the problem.

Data with a stated purpose

A system like this collects a great deal. The only defensible reason to collect any of it is that it makes the next warning earlier and the next prediction sharper. Anything gathered that does not serve that should not be gathered.

Where this actually stands

This is a methodology we are putting forward, not a completed case study. There is no fleet data here, no independent validation and no decade of results. It is a position argued from causes that are already well documented, and it sits alongside the direction GNCAP is already travelling rather than against it.

We would rather say that plainly than dress a conviction up as a result. When there are results, they will be published the same way.
