How we travel to other planets, what we would actually do once we are there, and how close we can realistically get to bodies including the sun. And in the same breath, the seas and lakes on this one, which we have not finished with either.
The question is why, not whether.
Exploration as spectacle is easy to fund and easy to forget. The version worth working on is the one where you can answer plainly what it returns to the people paying for it, and on what timescale.
The deep ocean is the honest comparison. It is closer, it is less understood than the surface of the moon, and almost nobody frames it as exploration. The same instinct applies in both directions, and so does the same obligation to say what it is for.
